Присвоение того или иного класса изделию осуществляют в зависимости от его внешнего вида: наличия или отсутствия сучков, трещин, гнили.
ГОСТом 8486-86 прописаны требования, которым должна отвечать древесина. Речь идет о показателях прочности, влагоустойчивости, плотности, степени усыхания и износостойкости. В зависимости от того, какого сорта пиломатериал допустимы определенные количества дефектов. Обрезная доска имеет маркировку, обозначающая наименование изделия, сорт, породу дерева, размер поперечного сечения.
Основными показателями являются внешний вид, геометрические формы, качество поверхности, количество действий в процессе обработки. Качество готового продукта и его цену определяют именно по этим параметрам. В целом пиломатериал долговечен и удобен в использовании.
По стандарту имеет длину 6 м, толщину 50, 25 либо 40 мм, ширину 200, 150 либо 100 мм.
